![]() One challenge facing accounting graduates and practitioners is acquiring sufficient data analytic skills. Articles classified as cases and instructional resources published in the same five journals during 2021 are tabulated in appendices categorized by instructional content area. We summarize and describe the research technique of the empirical articles. Articles are categorized into five sections corresponding to traditional knowledge bases: (1) curriculum and instruction, (2) instruction by content area, (3) educational technology, (4) students, and (5) faculty. We update 16 prior accounting education literature reviews by organizing and summarizing contributions to the accounting education literature made during 2021. This review of the accounting education literature includes 112 articles published during 2021 in five accounting education journals: (1) Journal of Accounting Education, (2) Accounting Education, (3) Advances in Accounting Education: Teaching and Curriculum Innovations, (4) Issues in Accounting Education, and (5) The Accounting Educators’ Journal. While our focus is on accounting programs new to Data Analytics, these resources are also useful to accounting programs and practitioners that wish to expand their data analytic offerings. We recommend free tools, questions, and cases for use across the curriculum. We formulate an Analytics Value Cube to guide the use of different analytic techniques as accounting programs integrate. Specifically, using the Diffusion of Innovation Theory, we apply the theory's five stages to the infusion of Data Analytics into the accounting curriculum: Knowledge, Persuasion, Decision, Implementation, and Confirmation. This paper provides a framework and the resources for creating a Data Analytics-infused accounting curriculum. This will meet the profession's expectation that accounting students have expert level skills in both technical accounting knowledge and Data Analytics. Accounting programs need fully-integrated accounting curriculum to develop students with strong analytic and critical thinking skills that complement their accounting knowledge. The technology and Data Analytics developments affecting the accounting profession in turn have a profound effect on accounting curriculum. ![]()
